The hottest new spring/summer hair trends have arrived and we’re very excited in the salon. Our stylists have been busy checking out all the latest looks from the catwalks, we can’t wait to give you a summer makeover…
The hottest hair colours for summer 2018
“Ultra Violet has been named ‘Colour of the year’ by colour experts Pantone, so expect to see this hue everywhere this summer,” predicts Danielle. Be it electric shades of violet, soft lilac or dreamy lavender there’s a purple-based shade for everyone.
“Purple is so in right now and we love how experimental you can be. Over the last few years we saw a lot of pink and pastel blue so purple is the natural next step. It’s a very out there colour and a more grown up pastel shade. Just remember your hair will need to be pre-lightened beforehand,” says Courtney.
Platinum blonde continues to be popular in 2018 with icy tones dominating, but darker melted roots are having a revival for a grungy, lived in feel. Great news if your roots show quickly in-between hair appointments.
Want something new yet natural looking? “Swap your usual summer blonde highlights with a honey rose and warm strawberry coppers for a modern twist with subtle warmth” suggests Andy.
New spring/summer hair styles
Big 80’s curls are making a comeback – the bigger the better! They were all over the S/S catwalks, so embrace your bounce this season by wearing your hair loose and letting it do its thing.
“Curls look great on everyone but don’t worry if your hair is naturally straight, you can work this trend too by using heat styling tools and Paul Mitchell’s newest Neuro products. We recommend ‘Neuro Heatctrl iron hairspray’ which is a lightweight hairspray to deliver both hold and protection from your styling tools. Paul Mitchell’s new Heatctrl technology creates a barrier between your cuticles and your styling tool and blocks humidity for up to 8 hours. Leaving your curls looking heavenly all day,” says Pep.
Did you brave the chop in 2017? Good news – grown-out pixie cuts are hot right now; ideal if you’re struggling with the awkward in-between stage. Ask your Image International stylist about adding some subtle changes to freshen up your look.
Accessorise your locks
Remember 90’s barrette and snap clips? They’re back but new and improved. Think grown-up and sophisticated jewelled pieces as seen on Versace and Dolce and Gabbana fashion shows along with embellished headbands. Silk ribbons are also bringing a chic look as well as patterned scarves – great for keeping your hair off your face in the heat.
With so much diversity this year you really can chop and change your look depending on how you feel. Don’t feel restricted to just one style, be brave and experiment as anything goes this summer…
